Multiverse 2011: Open For Business

Prompt submissions are now closed for Multiverse 2011. You may now proceed straight to claiming prompts and posting fills. There are one hundred and eighty prompts available, including the forty-two I threw in at the end. (It seemed like a good number.) Some of those prompts are mine, some are prompts from last year that I copied over, and some were invented by me and my friends over hamburgers while we were all exhausted to the point of hysteria. Have fun trying to distinguish those from the usual level of multiverse wackiness!

The rules are simple:

1) For each prompt your claim, you must submit a story on or before September 30th 2011. There is no minimum or maximum length limit, so responding with a haiku or a novel is allowable.

2) While you may claim any number of prompts during the ficathon, the management would like to gently suggest that you finish one story before going back for another, in order to give everyone a fair chance to claim.

3) If your prompt is filled, please send feedback.

Prompt Submission Open For Multiverse 2011

Welcome to another round of Multiverse, the multifandom space show crossover challenge. This year, the challenge will be running with the aid of the brand new prompt challenge code over at the Archive of our Own. (Yes, I know. Two new venues in two years! I think having the challenge over at the AO3 is a great opportunity, though.)

Prompt submission for the current round is open until the end of July. Please keep in mind that we're using the alpha version of the code, and you may see bugs that need to be reported to the archive.

Q. How do I submit prompts?

You need to have an AO3 account in order to submit or claim prompts, or to post a story. If you need help getting one, just let me know. When logged into your account, you can fill in the submission form on the challenge page.

Q. How long do I have to submit prompts?

Until July 31st.

Q. How many prompts may I submit?

Up to ten.

Q. Do I have to commit to writing a story in order to submit a prompt?

Not at all! You may submit prompts without writing anything. (Or claim prompts without submitting them, for that matter.)

Q. What kinds of prompts can I submit?

Each prompt must involve two or more fandoms from the pre-approved list of space shows. (Some of which are actually space books, space movies, space comics, etc.) You may add characters and other details if you like, but this is not compulsory.

Q. I want to request a fandom that isn't on the list!

If your fandom involves space travel and/or aliens, I will be happy to add it to the challenge for you. Just drop me a line here or at the archive and I'll get right on it.

Q. How do I claim a prompt?

You can see the list of prompts and claim one (or more!) by browsing the prompts on the collection. Feel free to claim your own prompts if you like.

Q. When are stories due?

For each prompt your claim, you must submit a story on or before September 30th 2011.

Greetings, fellow Multiversians! The first crop of fanworks for 2010 will be posted today/tomorrow (depending on what timezone you're in) and so this seemed an apposite moment to make a note of header etiquette. The title and type of fanwork (fic, art, poetry, vid, etc. etc.) should be in the subject line. All works should be posted behind a cut - please don't use fake cuts! I would like everything to be posted to the community rather than just linked from here. Outside of your cut should be the following information:

Prompt: So that people can see what inspired you.

Fandoms: Self-explanatory; please list the fandoms in your crossover.

Rating: Use whatever system you think best to indicate the nature of your content. It is not compulsory to include specific warnings/labels on material posted to this community, although I encourage people to use them.

Word Count: Assuming your work has words and is not fanart, a vid, or a recording of your interpretive dance.

Summary: A brief description of what your work is. You know the drill.

You may cross-post your work anywhere you like after putting it here. Please consider adding any fanfiction to the Archive of Our Own Multiverse collection.

Multiverse Fanfic on Archive of Our Own

Now that people have had time to claim some prompts for the upcoming Multiverse round, there are a few other things I wanted to do. First of all, I've created a collection of Multiverse stories on Archive of Our Own. People have already been tagging with Community: multiverse5000, but I wanted to make it even easier to find as many Multiverse stories there as possible.

If you've already uploaded your fic, you just need to edit them and add 'Multiverse' where it says 'Post to Collections/Challenges'. At the moment I'm keeping it simple so everything from 2004 to the present should go in the same collection.

If someone with more graphical ability than myself would like to make a custom banner, that would be awesome.

Multiverse 2010 Prompt Claiming Post

Welcome to prompt claiming for 2010! Here are the rules:

1. You may claim up to three prompts between now and when posting begins on June 15th. After that, you may claim as many extra prompts as you like.

2. Feel free to claim prompts you submitted.

3. Only one person may claim each prompt. I'll strike them off the list when I have time, but please check the most recent comments for claims I may not have caught up on.

4. Each prompt has been assigned to a specific posting date. On that day, you need to post your fanwork to this community.

5. If you can't make your posting date, don't panic! On July 1st and afterwards there will be an amnesty period when you can post. If you don't make your assigned date, please hang on to your work until July.

6. There is no minimum length limit on stories. (Or maximum length limit, either. Go nuts.)

7. You do not have to respond to the prompt with prose. You can make icons, write a haiku, draw fan art, record a filk, do a fanmix, or create a vid. All forms of fannish creativity are welcome here, although obviously some prompts will be more suited to particular formats.
